An organisation focused on sustainability, Stadiums Queensland is always looking for ways to invest in optimised waste recycling and reuse practices, and this was front of mind when Townsville-based Queensland Country Bank Stadium needed new outdoor seating. Queensland Country Bank Stadium Facilities Manager Craig McDonald said Replas ticked a number of boxes.
“We were looking for a supplier based in Australia, and we needed to supply an environmentally sustainable product using Australian sourced raw materials,” Mr McDonald said.
“We now have 88 benches made from recycled plastic. The bench seats blend perfectly with the urban landscape of our southern plaza while offering protection to our tree planting program whilst the trees are in their early growth cycle."
"I encourage other sporting and community facilities to look for products that incorporate second use or recycled product in their manufacturing,” he said.
