Darwin Botanical Gardens now has an Enduroplank™ boardwalk

ADAMANT Builders were proud to recently design and construct a new Replas Enduroplank Boardwalk nearly 70 meters long as an official pedestrian entrance into the Darwin Botanical Gardens. This was a difficult project as the boardwalk weaves around Culturally significant trees, so we had to complete environmental research and in turn use wet excavation for piers in order to not damage any tree roots under ground. With a flexible approach we had to then adapt pier locations around major tree roots which changed the original design to the topography of the site. The Composite plastic frame ticked many of the Clients boxes for environmentally friendly product with no rust or maintenance in future. The new fire retardant Enduroplank decking boards gave the Client peace of mind for our long dry season conditions. Installing all of the Replas product was as easy as working with timber. As there is no steel to cut and make sparks in our dry season climate, the composite frame and plastic decking board materials were safe to work with in this application. The finished product is a practical boardwalk that blends into the surrounding tropical environment perfectly with little to no maintenance for the Client in the future.

  • 70.0m long
  • 2.0m wide ( cut two 2.0m planks from a 4.1m uncut enduroplank and still got the tiled effect )
  • Composite fibre structure
  • Fire Retardant Enduroplank™
  • 90 x 65mm kick rail with 90 x 40mm spacers underneath
  • Post holes had to be dug with a Hydro Excavator which actually sucks the dirt out so as not to disturb the tree roots as some of the trees are 100’s of years old
