On Friday 18th of October, the Replas Environmental Centre had a large group of industry professionals attend a tour as part of the Williamson Community Leadership Program run by Leadership Victoria. Leadership Victoria exists to inspire, develop and connect exceptional leaders who are driven by personal development and professional excellence and share our passion for creating a better world. Just some of the organisations these participants of this Leadership Program are from includes YMCA Victoria, VIC Police, Department of Justice and Regulation, Medibank, Environment Protection Authority, Melb Uni and many more. The Williamson Community Leadership Program (in its 30th year) provides a life-changing year of growth for senior leaders from across Victoria representing the private, public and community sectors. The program is designed to develop leaders across sectors and to foster engagement on a range of current and emerging societal issues. The theme for the day was PROSPERITY AND BEING – How do we re-define prosperity to encompass human, natural and social capital? From the tour of the Replas Environmental Centre, they were able to experience the practical, logistical, social and environmental issues around dealing with the waste from an economically affluent consumerist society. There was a lively discussion around current issues facing society around recycling and changing our procurement habits to more sustainable options.
