In Taranaki, New Zealand, the 220-metre boardwalk at the mouth of the Waitara River has come up, with the old wooden decking being replaced by recycled plastic Enduropank™.  Park of a project to enhance Waitara Marine Park with new structures, signage and native tree plantings, the new Enduropank™ boardwalk will be safer and more accessible to users. And being made of recycled plastic, it can be expected to last a lot longer in the exposed coastal location.

In upgrading  the popular reserve,  New Plymouth District Council has received support from Shell New Zealand, which operates the Pohukura oil & gas field 4 km offshore. With oil extraction  a major Taranaki industry and some three million plastic bags used in manufacturing the Enduropank™  boardwalk, that’s a significant return to the Waitara community in more ways than one.
