The historic Waverley Cemetery, which opened in 1877 above the cliffs at Bronte in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, is noted for its largely intact Victorian and Edwardian monuments. It also retains some distinctive period fencing, which over the years has reached a state of disrepair (as pictured). When planning an upgrade, Waverley Council contacted Replas to discuss replacement with a picket fence that would not require maintenance.
A composite post and rail system with recycled plastic pickets was then investigated, designed and installed, using two profiles and two colours from the range. This trial has served to demonstrate the Replas team’s project capabilities in unique situations.
