Thundersticks provide a great way to show support at a sporting event, but what happens to all that unwanted plastic once the game is over? The Melbourne Cricket Club has partnered with Replas and the RED Group to recycle the material. Some of it has even been used to create newly installed bollards at the MCG.

Vince Macolino, Venue Presentation Coordinator, at the MCC, said, ‘We chose to use the products as it would close the loop for soft plastics recycling at the MCG. According to Vince they were surprised that, ‘the colour of the product ran right through and it did not require painting when chipped like wooded products, adding that as an added bonus they are looking forward to, ‘low maintenance and reduced operational costs’.
