Replas agent Colin Van Staveren, from Far North Qld Plastics, worked with Cairns Regional Council to produce an edging solution for a local pontoon. What was needed was a material that would stop the boats getting damaged as they pulled up next to it.

Colin’s design allowed for expansion and contraction and included press fit caps to flush the holes in order to stop boats catching on the material. Black was chosen has it has the highest UV resistance for this sunny location.
‘We hope to continue our business relationship with FNQ Plastics and Replas due to the quality , lifespan and finish of their products and their allround knowledge on recycled plastic products and hope to get all our pontoons up to this standard over time.’ Paul Johnson, Maintenance Coordinator, Cairns Regional Council.
