Coles stores throughout Australia offer customers an easy way to recycle their soft plastics through the REDcycle program. Stores, such as this one at Deeragun in Queensland, also offer customers a place to rest their weary feet on seats made from the collected plastic waste. A true reward for effort.
Coles continue to demonstrate their commitment to the environment with a recent visit to the Replas Environmental Centre. Woodville Primary School were the first winners of a seat in the South Australian Woodville Primary School Coles REDcycle program. Robbie Westley from Replas South Australia recently visited the school to see how their seat had settled in to its new home.
With overwhelming community support for the REDcycle plastic recycling program, Coles is rewarding customers with practical seats made from the plastic collected in the bins. Shoppers at Coles Cranbourne North in Victoria can now rest easy on this comfortable seat knowing that as a community they have saved a considerable amount of plastic from landfill.
Since September 2011 Coles customers have returned enough soft plastic shopping bags and packaging, through the REDcycle stations, to circle the MCG oval 8300 times, if lined up end to end.
