Sydney Academy of Sport, part of the New South Wales State Government, is always looking at ways to recycle and use recycled plastic products. Michael Rogan, Acting Services Coordinator Grounds and Facilities, has installed Replas products before, “we have found it very good, also the fact that it is a recycled product was important to us.” Michael and his team have installed 66 recycled plastic Lyrebird Benches, situated on the back verandas of the accommodation, and 3 Flinders Settings, used as a breakout and outdoor classroom. “The furniture it replaced was timber, which we found needed constant sanding and painting to keep it looking good. We have a lot of schools staying here at Narrabeen and they tend to carve their names, etc., onto the timber which is not a good look. Replas products makes it hard for this to happen and keep their good looks longer,” said Michael. Recycled plastic products from Replas will not rot, split or crack like alternative products, an ideal install for Sydney Academy of Sport. “The installation and assembly process was very easy and didn’t take much time at all. The benches could be done by just one person, which kept other members of the team free to do other things, they are easy to put together,” continued Michael. “The staff have been very impressed with the benches and tables, we will definitely be using [Replas] products again.” Lyrebird Benches have a more traditional look and Flinders Settings feature the secure, durable slats, running the other way. A long lasting, low maintenance recycled plastic furniture installation at Sydney Academy of Sport for Michael and his team.
