Steve Garbutt wanted to restore and repaint his ‘Walk Tall’ yacht, berthed at Breakwater Marina in Townsville, Queensland. Steve and his partner Kym, who both live on the yacht, spent many hours bringing it up to pristine condition, including an installation of recycled plastic sheeting for their bench top in their kitchen. With the boat permanently in the sea, they needed a material that would not rot, split or crack from the salt water environment, leaving timber out as an option. “It was easier to install and cut than I thought,” explained Steve, “it lights up the whole galley area.” Replas Post Industrial Recycled Sheeting is 100% solid plastic sheets 2.4 x 1.2m in size available in thickness range from 10 to 60 mm in recycled HDPE and PP. Also available in a range of colours, smooth or textured finish, tough, strong and durable, PIR Sheeting will not rot, crack, swell, determinate, mildew or be attacked by termites. It will last for years outdoors and in continuous contact with water and many corrosive chemicals that would attack and destroy most metals. “[We are] so proud and satisfied with how it came up, really pleased with the outcome,” said Steve.
