Bundaberg Regional Council needed to extend a section of the recycled plastic post and rail fence at Oaks Beach in Burnett Heads. Because Oaks Beach is a turtle nesting area, Bundaberg RC had to make sure the fence did not allow car headlights to impact the beach. Replas standard post and rail fencing was the ideal solution, with a local company supplying the shade cloth materials that was slotted over the rails. Recycled plastic products are highly suitable in a marine environment as the salt water will not corrode the material. The low maintenance aspect and longevity of the post and rail fence allows the turtles to nest peacefully without too much maintenance by the council. With teamwork, a fantastic installation for the local community while diverting soft plastic waste from landfill and/or the ocean where these turtles end up.
