On one of his travels, Product Manager Bert Meyer recently stopped at the well-known Hydro Majestic, situated in the Blue Mountains at Medlow Bath. The display trailer Bert regularly takes in tow around NSW can be seen there packed with Replas products. Across the road are just some of the many 100 mm x 100 mm grey recycled-plastic bollards that line the Great Western Highway in the vicinity of the Hydro Majestic complex.
At the turn of the 20th Century Mark Foy, retail baron, world traveller and sportsman, sold most of his shares in the elegant, family-owned, Sydney department store named for him, to finance his Blue Mountains venture. In 1903 Mr Foy successfully applied to have the name of the local township changed to “Medlow Bath”, and in 1904 Hydro Majestic opened as Australia’s first health retreat.
