The multi-purpose research and re-supply ship The Aurora Australis has refitted its re-fuelling containers with highly durable recycled-plastic sheeting. The ship, which supplies Australia’s research stations in the Antarctic territory, used the sheeting to replace plywood which often warped and perished in the harsh environment and was subject to quarantine issues upon return.

A trial of the recycled plastic last year proved to be economically and environmentally sound and another batch of plastic sheeting will be delivered soon, bound for one of the most severe climates in the world.
