Committed to recycling and making practical use of their packaging waste wherever possible, Coles supermarkets specify the use of recycled plastic wherever possible. Replas 90 x 40mm profiles are now used instead of timber for bumper rails, which protect walls and fittings from equipment in busy warehouse operations. The plastic doesn’t splinter or require regular maintenance, unlike the wooden rails previously used.

Coles staff are proud that they are using their plastic waste as a resource, collected and processed as part of the RED group supermarket initiative. The example pictured is at the Coles store in Townsville, Queensland.
