In the last few years, Moreton Bay Regional Council have been replacing old timber bollards with recycled plastic bollards across many parks in the region. One of the upgrades in late 2018 was at Highlands Estate Park, Narangba where they have used brown Brolga Bollards to replace the old log fence. Brolga Bollards, named after the official bird emblem of Queensland, is tall and slender with an elegant profile; equally at home by the beach, in a park or in the desert. The hollow centre means the bollards are extremely lightweight, making them cheaper to transport and easier to install. Like all recycled plastic products, these Brolga Bollards will not rot, split or crack and will never need painting. The low maintenance aspect allows Moreton Bay Regional Council to focus on other areas of the community. The durable, long lasting recycled plastic bollards will be in place at Highlands Estate Park for many years to come.
