In providing new bench seating at one of their main sports fields, Maitland City Council north-west of Newcastle, NSW chose to go the way of recycled plastic.  A row of Lyrebird benches, with their bright blue slats on sturdy undercarriage that won’t rot, become infested or ever need painting, now enables the sporting patrons of Maitland to be seated and enjoy the game in comfort. As they do so, they may ponder the fact that’s just possible the bench material  came out of their own local recycling efforts.
