A steep 2.3 k walk in the hills south of Port Douglas, is a morning tradition for Sue and Iain Ralston. When one morning, at their regular lookout point, Iain mentioned there should be a seat to admire the view, Sue knew she had found the perfect present for his 50th birthday.

After speaking to Mossman National Parks Ranger, David Sherwell, it was decided that a Kimberley would be perfect, but unfortunately the rangers didn’t have the budget to fund it.

On his 50th birthday, Iain took his regular walk up the hill.

There he discovered, not only the seat he had wished for, but waiting on it were friends from Melbourne who had travelled to surprise him for his special birthday.
