“As a waste and resource recovery group, we think it is important to lead our community in purchasing products made from recycled materials. We are also committed to purchasing from local manufacturers and more, particularly, those who manufacture quality products,” explains La Vergne Lehmann, Executive Officer of Grampians Central West Waste & Resource Recovery Group. La Vergne and the team at Central West Waste have donated a recycled plastic Kimberley Seat from Replas for the Food is Free Ballarat, Green Space – “Food Is Free Inc. is a grassroots, community led not-for-profit group benefiting all Ballarat (Australia) citizens with a focus on those experiencing disadvantage and has a core purpose of assisting and promoting food security and community cohesion and inclusion.” La Vergne said, “We have been working with Food is Free Ballarat and supported their Green Space, and while they had been improving many aspects of that space, we noticed that they could do with more seating for people to enjoy the space. While other seats could have been purchased, we were keen to provide a seating that fitted with our ethos – that is environmentally friendly and preferably recycled material used in manufacture.” Kimberley Seats from Replas feature an ergonomic design with a smooth curved back for extra comfort. Like all recycled plastic products from Replas, this Kimberley Seat requires little maintenance, allowing Food is Free Ballarat to put their resources on other parts of the not-for-profit. “We expect this seat to be there for a long time,” said La Vergne, “and become part of the Green Space for the long term.” Recycled plastic furniture will not rot, split, crack or rot like alternative materials. The longevity and durability of recycled plastic furniture will benefit visitors and workers at Food is Free for many years. “Our organisation will always support the production and purchase of products that have a high level of recycled product. It is an important part of what we are about. We certainly plan to continue purchasing Replas products as we need them in our activities,” said La Vergne. A fantastic addition to Food is Free Ballarat – Green Space!
