When it comes to recycling, Flinders Christian Community College in Carrum Downs has it in the bag. Eighteen months into a soft plastic collection program, the College has gathered over 500 kg of plastic which it has returned to Replas for recycling.
Purchasing recycled products is the key to making recycling viable and the school thoroughly embraces this pull-through concept. Carey Cole, Community Engagement Coordinator, Flinders Christian Community College Carrum Downs, said, we aim to become a community that practices good stewardship through recycling’.
Replas has collaborated with the school on many projects and the latest is the design of a brand new outdoor setting called The College in honour of the incredible contribution to recycling made by the school community.
Carey said, ‘We are delighted to be closing the loop by purchasing this outdoor furniture, which has been manufactured by Replas using some of the plastic that we have collected’.
