Coles Horsham in regional Victoria have become an Australia first for installing a kerb and footpath made using Polyrok from Replas. Polyrok concrete is the latest innovation from Replas, a sustainable alternative to mineral aggregate in concrete that finds a home for the most problematic waste stream, soft plastic. State of the art technology allows Replas to use 100% post-consumer soft plastics that are recovered from the REDcycle program in Coles and Woolworths with leading packaging brands. “Our customers are really going to respond to the Polyrok because they can see the work they put in from collecting all this plastic, in the car park,” said Matthew Kulhan, Store Manager for Coles Horsham. “There are 900,000 pieces of plastic going into the car park alone, and it’s a real reward,” he said. This latest innovation from Replas results in a superior product that has benefits over conventional concrete. Specific plastic-to-cement binding technology has been tested to meet Australian Standards, efficiently and effectively replacing conventional mineral aggregate while diverting plastic from landfill. Coles Horsham also showcase Replas products inside the store with a Daintree Seat and a Cardboard Box Holder.
