In Victoria, the Western Health Environmental Management Roadmap 2015-2020 sets out environmental leadership across the healthcare group. It is a far-reaching strategy supported by 50 local sustainability action plans in departments and clinical areas.
One great initiative implemented by the Western Health Environmental Management Team was the recycling of sterile wrap for manufacture of functional products the hospital has a use for. In this case, a recycled plastic beachcomber seat made from their own waste! The team’s efforts have been recognised with naming as a finalist in the Premier’s Sustainability Awards 2016.
Western Health manages a number of hospitals and community-based services in the Melbourne area. Congratulations to the Western Health Environmental Management team!
