At Casuarina Beach estate on the NSW/QLD border there are over 50 footbridges, all constructed of timber that was expected to stand up in the harsh coastal environment. Well it didn’t. Tweed Shire Council is now in the process of having to repair some of these structures after just 10 years of use. With some bridges more than 200 meters long, it’s a major undertaking.
Replas Enduroplank™ was sourced as the alternative to timber due to its sustainable properties and low maintenance qualities that will provide significant savings over its extended life. After some initial training on the best way to handle Enduroplank, the construction team was quickly up and running with a quality installation. Local residents now have a footbridge deck that is easy to walk on and low in maintenance that looks great and will last for many years to come.
