In Cannon Valley, Queensland, Replas Pro Plants Whitsunday installed a new composite fibre and mini mesh structure on the Bourke Street stairs, including recycled plastic profiles as kick rails. Matt Stokes, Manager of Plants Whitsunday explains the installation: “The Bourke Street stairs were designed to span over the top of an existing armour rock wall without mid posts. The design meant the wall did not have to be modified or altered and allows an economical installation. The lower levels were all under the high water mark, so black max piers were first set at approximately 2.5m deep during the low tide. Posts were then concreted into the piers. The stairs are an attractive and robust installation that have been very well received by the public.”
