Many years ago Banana Shire Council, QLD. used a variety of recycled plastic products to landscape the entrance to Thangool Aerodrome. To house the airport’s main entrance sign, a garden bed was created using Replas Garden Panel, while 125 mm Replas bollards with high-visibility insert discs were installed on both sides of the entrance. Now, recognising the great value of recycled plastic products in the open-air Central Queensland environment, the council has erected a new pedestrian bridge with recycled plastic decking. The bridge uses Replas Enduroplank™ on a composite fibre support structure to give pedestrians safe and easy passage to the airport terminal.
Thangool Aerodrome is approximately 11 km south of Biloela and services the mining, pastoral and agricultural activities of the surrounding areas. Biloela is a busy commercial and tourist hub that still retains that relaxed, country feeling.
