Built to last

Diamond Club member, Designer Decks, has installed a composite fibre boardwalk in the Sunshine Coast wetlands. This long lasting construction will not only cope beautifully with the demands of the harsh Queensland climate, but with an expected life span of more than forty years will also outlast traditional materials.

Elite design

What do athletes and recycled-plastic have in common? When subject to wet or muddy conditions, a quick shower has them both looking good as new.

Launceston Church Grammar in Tasmania commissioned ARTAS architects to design a new fit out for the change rooms of the school’s sports complex. Having previously worked with Replas products, they felt recycled plastic would be perfect to incorporate into the design.

Faulkner Building, who won the contract for the construction work, did an amazing job of bringing the building plans to reality. The curved benches - made from 90 x 40 mm and 65 x 40 mm profile – flow with the shape of the rooms and are a real highlight of the construction. The black profiles contrast nicely with the walls, which also feature Replas 70 x 20 mm profiles as a base for coat hooks and smaller wall-mounted benches were custom made for the shower blocks.

Spend once to last a lifetime!

Sorell Council in Tasmania believe strongly in the ‘spend once’ principal. Initial expense is far outweighed by the savings made over the life cycle of a product. This is probably why they are continued supporters of Replas products.

A new recycled-plastic picket fence at the Sorell Cemetery not only looks great, but will provide a virtually maintenance free solution for more than forty years.

On the fence

The Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DPTI) in South Australia needed a long lasting, inexpensive fencing option for a bike path along the $291 m Seaford rail extension. They wanted an environmentally-friendly product as the brief was to be as sustainable as possible.

The solution? A Post and Rail fence from Replas. Installed by Bluedog Fences, Andy Holmes said the clients were very happy with the finished project and, ‘would definitely use the product again’.

Miles better

In 2011, Great Lakes Council in NSW, created beach access at the south end of One Mile Beach, Forster, using a combination of Replas’ Enduromesh, composite fibre and hardwood timber. A beach shower was also added. While this proved extremely popular, increased use created a mud patch around the shower. No problem. The council simply extended the Enduromesh. Now the grass is growing back and visitors have clean feet!

According to the council, residents are now asking when they will see more access ways of this type on other beaches.

All decked out

Bungalow Bay Koala Village is an architecturally designed holiday village on Magnetic Island in Far North Queensland. Village owners and management strive to be eco-friendly and when an old timber deck around the pool needed replacing they were quite excited about the prospect of a new recycled-plastic deck.

Michael Terkelsen from Lifestyled Landscapes, who installed the deck, said ‘the Replas product will be much better around the wet pool environment,’ adding that installation of the Enduroplank™ on a composite fibre sub-structure was straightforward. Michael said the product addressed issues that other products could not and he, ‘would definitely recommend the use of this material to future customers’.

Education making a difference

SITA Australia is the leader in sustainable resource recovery management. Jane and Lyndal from SITA visited the Replas Environmental Centre recently as they have now associated their school tours with Replas. Both companies will collaborate to provide educational opportunities for young people.

Simplot inspired

Simplot, Australia’s leading food manufacturer, visited the Replas Environmental Centre with the main focus of purchasing new facilities for their headquarters. Once they saw the range of products Replas has to offer Simplot was inspired to come up with a variety of ideas and ways to use recycled-plastic products so that they can be more environmentally friendly.

The force is with us

Alan from G-Force Recycle Management Pty Ltd, visited the Replas Environmental Centre to gain a greater understanding of the benefits of utilising recycled material to create sustainable products. He was excited to see the environmentally-friendly products Replas has to offer and says it has inspired him to play a bigger part in recycling in the future.

On the trail

Ausland Landscapers installed 24 emergency markers along the Werribee River, in Wyndham City Council Victoria. Made from Replas’ recycled-plastic 145 mm Bollard Signs, these markers provide important safety information for users of the Werribee River trail, and will not require any maintenance for the council.
