Replas bollards hop to it

Bundaberg Council, in Queensland, developed a unique vehicle barrier fence at Woodgate Beach. The area is home to hundreds of kangaroos that during the day and night wander through the town and parks.

Using 125 mm black bollards and white plastic wire, they have created a unique fence that prevents vehicle access into the parks and surrounding sensitive ecological areas while allowing easy access for the kangaroos.

Drive safely

A new boardwalk at Kennedy Drive in Tweed Heads, Queensland, has improved safety for both pedestrians and cyclists travelling between the river and the main road.

Replas recycled-plastic decking provides a non-slip surface for the shared pathway and offers safe refuge points to cross the road. The elegant hand rail was constructed using Replas 125 mm square bollards combined with stainless steel wire through the posts.

Construction will soon commence on a $1.1 million extension to the pathway from the Kennedy Drive Boat Ramp to Kennedy Plaza, providing pedestrians and cyclists with a scenic, but safe road corridor.

Wheely good

New recycled-plastic wheel stops have provided a bright and robust solution for the car park at the Highfields Service Centre in Queensland. According to Garry McGraw, Principal Project Manager at Toowoomba Council , they, 'look damn good'.

Fitness gets the tick

Peter Patterson, National Business Development Manager for Replas, visited Fitness Trail® equipment at Coolum Beach in Queensland to see how well it was performing. After six years active service the equipment, which has been subject to the harsh Queensland environment, was given the tick of approval. This popular facility will provide the community of Coolum Beach with many more years of outdoor fitness and fun.

All decked out

Bungalow Bay Koala Village is an architecturally designed holiday village on Magnetic Island in Far North Queensland. Village owners and management strive to be eco-friendly and when an old timber deck around the pool needed replacing they were quite excited about the prospect of a new recycled-plastic deck.

Michael Terkelsen from Lifestyled Landscapes, who installed the deck, said ‘the Replas product will be much better around the wet pool environment,’ adding that installation of the Enduroplank™ on a composite fibre sub-structure was straightforward. Michael said the product addressed issues that other products could not and he, ‘would definitely recommend the use of this material to future customers’.

On the table

Darren Harrison and Garnet Radford from Logan City Council in Queensland recently met with Replas director Mark Yates at the Replas Environmental Centre in Victoria. Logan City will be home to the new Replas recycling centre in Queensland and the Business Development executives will assist with the establishment of the facility as well as spreading the good word throughout the local community.

Coolum on the Fitness Trail®

Coolum State School on the Sunshine Coast, Qld, has added a Fitness Trail® fabricated by Replas to their sports armoury. This innovative range of hardy equipment is perfectly suited to primary school students and promises to stand up to many years of wear and tear from the roll of 1000 students. Denise French, P&C Manager at the school said, ‘The fitness trail has become an integrated resource within our physical fitness curriculum, and is used constantly during play-time, at morning tea and lunch-times.’ The school also offers the facility to various sports clubs in the Coolum district. Denise says, ‘It's an ideal warm-up and warm-down facility for junior cricketers, runners, rugby league, netball and soccer players. We also have karate schools, tennis coaching and personal trainers on the school grounds who make use of our fitness trail.’ To complete the picture Denise said, ‘We chose an installer who had worked with Replas previously, and added a permanent roof and rubber soft fall to finish off our project.’ ‘We have found the Replas Fitness Trail® product hard-wearing, attractive and good value - what more could we ask for?’ Denise French P&C Manager Coolum State School.

A view from a beachcomber

Perched high on a hill in Bowen, a North Queensland town halfway between Townsville and Mackay, sits these beautiful Beachcomber Seats. With their dolphin motif they are a colourful addition to this stunning location and provide a welcome place to rest and soak up the views.

Magnetic Island boardwalk update

Over 2000 Enduroplank™ decking planks were loaded onto a truck heading for Magnetic Island just off Townsville, Queensland. This is the second major boardwalk built with Enduroplank™ on the island and will require 80 lineal metres of two-metre wide boardwalk to be installed on a 45 degree slope.

Townsville City Council purchased the first boardwalk in March 2008. A detailed comparative cost analysis revealed significant economic advantages of using composite and recycled materials over traditional ones and the project was completed on budget and ahead of schedule. Replas is very proud that many years later the council has once again chosen Enduroplank™ for this new boardwalk stretching from Nelly Bay to Arcadia
